Did you do today what you had planned to do when today was tomorrow? Did today bring you closer to the healthy, fit, new and improved you that you wanted to be when you thought of the you-of-tomorrow, yesterday? Confused yet? Go ahead and read it again and let it sink in real good before you continue with our scripture for today.
“You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north.” Deuteronomy 2:3
My personal, amplified, Shelley translation would read something like this: “You’ve wandered in this vast wilderness wasteland of nothingness and defeat long enough. Now is the time to turn toward the Promised Land and start (or get serious about) your journey and claim your victory!!
When I think of circling, I am reminded of my little dog, Wheezer, who has to circle his “spot” no fewer than 10-20 times before he can finally sit down and get comfy. I watch him and wonder what difference the circling made to his comfort level… It delayed it. It required extra effort. It looked ridiculous and didn’t change anything to the final act of sitting. I find it a strange and useless custom and wonder why on earth he does it when he could just simply sit down.
Do you ever wonder if God looks at our “circling” around His will and thinks the same thing? Why do we hesitate to do what we know is right? Why do we postpone the right things to the infinite land of tomorrow that never comes?
Today is really the first day of the rest of your life. It is the tomorrow of yesterday. You’ve circled long enough. Get started on your tomorrow – today! Start on your journey of being the you you want to be! Go ahead, I dare you. Start living now like you are already there– like you are already the you you want to be. You may just find that you are.
