Well, we have one week left on our challenge and only 198 miles or classes to go. Can I get big, “whoo hoo”? As I look over our list of challengers and what each one has left on their goal, I can see that we have some who should be able meet their goal, others already have or will exceed their goal, but there are still others who will most likely be unable to reach their goal before next Friday. Life happened and got in the way of their good intentions. Unfortunately, at one time or another, life happens to all of us and goals, plans and dreams are put on hold or cancelled all together.
So what should we do about it? Should we throw our hands up in the air, give up and live in state of defeat refusing to try again or take on new challenges for the fear of failure? I THINK NOT! We were made for so much more than that.
In the words of Paul (the apostle – not to be confused with my sweet hubby),
…But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
I take that to mean that we press on regardless of any goals left undone in the past. We just simply change our time stamp or change the goal if needed and give it another go. We shouldn’t focus on how long it takes to get there. We should just focus on getting there or on being there – eyes on the prize.
I have a part of a country ham in my fridge that was given to me last Christmas. It is salt cured and supposedly safe to eat as long as desired. I was instructed to just simply cut off the mold and cook when ready. So how gross is that? — there is mold involved here and in my kitchen no less!!! As I was trimming and discarding mold this morning (while trying to decide if I was actually going to consume this ham), I was reminded that even if we are on the path we want to be, we will still “grow mold” and precious days and hours will be lost if we just stand still. It requires action to reach what is ahead and get to the end of the path. Don’t wait until you feel like starting or finishing your goal. Just start moving and taking small steps in the right direction. The closer you get, the more your “feel like it” will appear. It is amazing how good success and accomplishments feel, no matter how small, and how they feed your motivation to keep on keeping on.
Couldn’t you use a little motivation or victory in your life? What do you need to do today to get the ball rolling on your path of being the you you want to be? Evaluate it, pray about it and then do something about it. Press on, my friends. Strain toward what is ahead. The prize God has for you is waiting.
To quote a cliche… Mold don’t grow on a rolling stone.
Be fit. Be strong. Be without mold!
