While I’m a summer gal and actually adore the heat and sun and and wish it could last all year long, I know many of you are celebrating the beginning of your favorite season, Fall. Well congratulations, Fall is finally here and it has brought with it the end of our September Sugarless Challenge. It has been a difficult challenge but well worth it. Just read what a few of our challengers had to say about their experience this past month…
“This challenge is just what I needed. It got me off of diet drinks and sweet-n-low…”
“I am more aware of what contains large amounts of sugar and will continue to scale back on those foods.”
“I just cut back and increased the exercise and I’m proud to say it shows….”
“I have learned to check the package. Some things I thought would not contain much sugar, had loads!”
“‘Knowledge is power. If you are aware of what you are eating, you will make better choices.”
“I was sugarless until my birthday. I would have remained sugarless, but my sweet fellow employees brought cupcakes to celebrate… I could not be rude, so I was appreciative and ate one. I will tell you that the interesting thing was that I would have thought that it would taste so wonderful because I had been sugarless for the past several weeks. I found as I was eating it that it was good, but nothing I craved.”
“The Sugarless challenge has given me the drive to go to phase II which is to begin to exercise again…”
“Because I was successful, I feel in control. In other words this challenge gave me my CONTROL back. It also made me realize that I can get fit again. I feel better inside and out.’
“I will definitely go into October continuing to go sugarless!”
We all know that sugar is bad for our health and that we could theoretically live without it, however that is not what I’m suggesting (or living). The purpose of this challenge was to help us be aware of how much hidden sugar is in our diet and to try to eliminate the “sugar” habits that aren’t worth it. With just a little effort in reading labels, portion control and informed decisions we can all live a life with less sugar, more energy and better health.
Celebrate a new beginning!
