August 2020: Life Changes

Life Changes

I can’t believe August is already here!! What happened to getting fit for summer, losing a few pounds before the heat set in, cookouts with extended family & friends, or even a normal vacation? I seemed to have missed a few normal summer things this year. We rang in 2020 in January with high hopes of a great year, our best yet with a 20/20 vision to the future, and then… the unexpected happened and apparently keeps happening. Life isn’t exactly the same right now.

But what is life if it is not a constant change? We all go through different seasons in our lives and with each comes change. Some changes are good and some are not so good (at least not at the time), but they all roll in together, shape us, and make us who we are presently. If we could go back in time and take out all the bad that has happened in our life, would we? What good things that grew out of bad experiences of our past would that eliminate in our present? It’s yet to be seen what good things will be on the other side of this chaos we call 2020, but I know there will be some.

The Bible tells us that God works all things together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose. It doesn’t say He stops the bad. We live in a fallen world. Bad things happen. Sickness lives here. But (isn’t “but” a great word? – it means there is a change in thought coming) God is still on his throne making good out of the bad and walking with us through it all because He loves us and has called us according to His purpose.

The Positives

Change in and of itself isn’t always bad. We adapt and we grow. I’m so proud of how our followmefit community has adapted to the changes we’ve had to make in our fitness journey together. I know online training was not what we envisioned for this year, but it has kept us on point and in shape over the past few months. An online workout might not be your ideal form of a workout, but it does have some plus sides…

  • if you’re at risk, it provides a safe place to workout in your home
  • if you do not live in the Clarksville area, it connects you to our community and gives you a great in home workout with a smile, some good music, and sometimes a yellow pig sighting 🙂
  • if you can’t workout out for any reason during our regular morning times or if your internet fails during class, it provides you with some recorded workouts to do later at your convenience
  • if you are going to be away from home, you can carry your workout gear and use Zoom and/or the YouTube videos to still get your workout in
  • in good weather you can workout outside for a change of scenery
  • working out in front of your kids or grandkids is a great example of health and fitness for them to follow
  • there is no workout commute time (you get to sleep a little later)
  • your shower and your fridge are close by (you get to eat a little earlier)
  • you can hide from the trainer off camera and take a break to play with your puppy 🙂 (it’s been done!)

August Boot Camps

For August, we are keeping the best of both 2020 worlds. Mondays and Wednesdays we will be live and in person at the Life Center. We will meet our friends there, enjoy the fellowship (at a distance), and get it done together. Thursdays we will meet online via Zoom and keep uploading the recordings so they will be available 24/7 throughout the month. You have the option of doing Live, Cyber, or both.

Side note: No Live class on Monday, August 10th. It is Paul’s birthday and we have a day trip planned.

Keeping it by the Month

I’ve decided to keep the month to month schedule indefinitely. I’m liking it. It’s easier to keep up with: when we start a new month, we start a new boot camp (regardless of what day of the week it lands on). No need to print a schedule. It will go by the calendar. Returning campers, remember that I’m using payment as a form of confirmation that you are joining the camp. If you’re planning on doing Cyber Camp I will need payment in advance before the first class time you plan to join so I can send you the current month’s links for Zoom and YouTube playlist ahead of time. You won’t be able to get on without it. See below for pricing and payment options.

We are resilient, we are strong, and we are made to move. No matter how you do it, move your bodies this month!! I hope you choose to sweat with me.
