Count Your Many Blessings
When I hear the hymn, “Count Your Many Blessings”, I am reminded of how we sang it at my home church led by our worship pastor, Bro. Billy Joe Kennedy. Everytime we sang the word blessings, we would stop the song and wait for someone to shout out a blessing. We would then pick up singing right where we left off ready to stop at the next “blessing”. It was always so encouraging to hear everyone’s blessings. In everyday life, we tend to talk less about the good things and a little more about the unusual, dramatic, and tragic. We live in a fallen world full of corruption. It’s no wonder we get caught up in negative thoughts and speech and forget to count our blessings. But we can’t disregard 1 Thessalonians 5:18. It tells us to give thanks in all circumstances. It might help us to remember that we are asked to give thanks in God’s Word, not because God is prideful and needs our gratitude to prove He is God, but for our benefit. We NEED to give gratitude. When we are thankful, it changes our perspective. It shines a light on what is good and right in our world. It helps us to see the hand of God at work all around us, and verifies that He hasn’t left us or forsaken us no matter what is going on around us. Our gratitude gives us hope.
As we go into this Thanksgiving season, let’s be about the business of shouting our blessings out to anyone who will listen. It will be good for us, encouraging to them, and a good witness of all the great things God has done. Everytime a negative thought about work, life, body image, family, church, or health pops into our head, let’s just cancel it with a blessing. Let’s “name them one by one and see what God hath done”.
And The Survey Says
Thanks to all the GOfit participants that filled out the survey last month. Your comments and insight have helped me to make some improvements to our GOfit
program. Thanks to you, here’s what’s new…
Gym Shorts
- Short workouts will now be added as an option to the Gym Strength App. These short workouts will focus on specific muscle groups. They will work great as a mini gym strength session after a walk or some cardio.
- Never fear, the normal full length workouts that you are used to will still be provided to those who’d prefer them.
- Because the App will only show 6 workouts at a time, you will choose either the Gym Shorts or Full Length Workouts so it will be easier for you to get to what you want. (Shorts will be the default.)
Printed Workouts
- I will include a link each month to a printable pdf of the workouts (full & short) for your convenience.
- PDF can also be viewed and enlarged on your phone.
Video Notes
- I will be listing the videos included in each playlist with some helpful notes on equipment needed, body parts worked, & video length.
- This will help you spend less time choosing a workout and more time working out.
