2012 is over and surprise… the end of the world didn’t happen. 2013 is here and it promises to be a great year!!! For me, it’s just got to be better than the last.
Many of you know that 2012 was not my best “back” year. I spent a month in the spring down in my back with little exercise mobility and started the fall off with yet another, much worse, episode that ended in major spinal surgery in September. I’m a little over 3 and a half months out from surgery and still unable to do much more in the exercise world than walk, stretch and light weights. If you’re counting, and I am, I haven’t had a good fat burning workout since the first week in August!! That, coupled with the holidays, food temptations, and the “oh-woe-is-me-pity-party-we-might-as-well-eat” has given me a few extra pounds I’d like to give back. The bad thing is I can’t just increase my exercise intensity and get back on track because I am now the not-so-proud-owner of a back injury with a built-in excuse to lay around. The way I see it I have two choices: I can use my back as an excuse not to exercise or I can use it as a motivator to stay strong and at a healthy weight so as not to re-injure. Guess which one I’m picking?
You’ve got it… I’m starting over – Did I mention that it has been almost 5 months since my last good workout? I don’t even want to talk about how weak I feel. Anyway, all this has served to remind me just how hard it is to start (or re-start) a fitness program. I have decided to dedicate my next several blog posts, entitled OPERATION FIT, to the beginner.
If you’re after that ever elusive fit lifestyle, struggle with your weight or if you’re just starting over like me; OPERATION FIT is for you.
I’m giving you a week to think it over and share with friends and family that may be interested in joining our blog group. I’ll be asking for commitments next week and plan on starting the week of January 20th. Get your mind right. It’s coming. A new you in 2013? I think so!
OPERATION FIT will focus on weekly changes that will build upon each other to eventually build a fit body and life. It will not be a quick fix nor a challenge with an end date. We will be shooting for lasting change and I will blog about it as long as God leads.
No Excuses! OPERATION FIT is on the way!
Okay…my mind is already at the starting line! I’m ready to go!
I’m ready……sign me up!
I am so ready. But remember…. I am 57 and have a little arthritis in my back plus osteoporosis in my back. So help me to be smart and not injure myself. I want to be strong again!!! Sign me up!! (Thanks so much for your encouragement, Shelly) 🙂 Laura Vaden
Okay let’s go for it. We have met and discussed a plan. I have a goal to reach by March. With yours and Gods help I will make it.
I know you can do it! I’ll see you next week.
