Introductory Week Operation Fit

a year from now

Operation Fit is here and it is time to pick an accountability level!  (keep in mind, peer pressure and accountability can be a great motivator)

  • Public: share it on Facebook – let the world know
  • Semi-Public: only tell me and a couple of close friends that will encourage and hold you accountable
  • Under Cover: make the commitment to yourself,  read the blogs, do what you can without stressing over who is looking over your shoulder

This is not a challenge, there is no deadline, no one winner and no names will be posted.  This is simply a form of encouragement and hopefully some practical tips that will get you to where you want to be.  There is nothing required more than for you to do your best and strive for a fitter today than yesterday – everyday.

Here is how it will work.  I will send out your assignment, focus or weekly challenge on Thursday or Friday the week before you will start on Monday.  We will only focus on one week at a time.  If you just can’t participate in that week’s challenge, you just continue to do what you have learned in the previous weeks and keep on your journey.  Maybe the next week will be just what you need.

If you are still riding the fence because you’re not sure if you can do this “fit” thing, try this introductory week.  There is no required diet or exercise involved.  (Imagine a fitness plan that starts without diet and exercise!  Is this a great plan or what?!)  This week we are starting to prepare the mind for battle because it will be a battle of the mind.  Temptations to slip back into old habits don’t go away just because you have a plan.  Temptations are real, they can be strong and they start in the mind.  So that’s where we are going to start.

This week’s focus is Journaling.  So go ahead (like an excited kid shopping for back to school supplies) go out and buy a brand new, crisp, pretty notebook (you know you want to) and get ready to write.   As I was typing that statement, I literally heard some of you cringe at the thought of a writing assignment.  Remember, no one will read your journal  but you and it doesn’t have to be in sentence form or in pretty handwriting.  It can be a bullet-ed list, jotted notes or a novel – whatever works for you.  It just needs to be something that you can go back and look at from time to time to be reminded of how far you’ve come and just exactly why you are doing this.

I can’t wait to hear from you.  Let’s get fit!

  1. Ok, I am super excited because I started journaling at the beginning of the year! I’ve been struggling to do this consistently for years! I will pick it up and put it down. Then I read something very simple, “journal for 15 min per night”. Now that is so simple but so profound for me. I don’t know why it was so difficult at first. I have been doing this almost every night since the beginning of the year. Glad to be following you fit from Huntsville AL!
