Operation Fit – Week #2: Be Strong Challenge

strong-women

When you think of a positive strong woman, what are some thoughts that come to mind?

  • steady (her family and friends can lean on her)
  • in control (self-disciplined)
  • got it together (she manages her life, it doesn’t manage her)
  • not a push over (not easily deceived)
  • empowered (she empowers herself with the knowledge she needs for the task at hand)
  • can do hard things (…with a smile, a kind word and a gentle touch)
  • when she falls she gets back up and knows that she has just learned a new way of how not to fall again

Our challenge this week is to be that “strong woman” when it comes to our association with food.  A strong woman empowers herself with knowledge of what the term “healthy food” means.  A strong woman exhibits self-control in the food choices she makes and is not easily deceived by marketing hype on what is not truly healthy.

A strong woman doesn’t feel deprived that she turned down food that is not good for her body.  No matter how good she thinks it may taste in the moment, she leans on the fact that she knows it doesn’t build her body.  She’s keenly aware that instead of building, it destroys and harms her body and her self-image and can even cause her to live in a state of defeat.  She’s had enough of defeat!  A strong woman doesn’t throw pity parties of how everyone else ate the fried food, the heavy cream sauce on their pasta and a dessert.  She’s not everyone else.  She’s a strong woman that wants to be fit and healthy.  She will not settle for less than what is best for her no matter what everyone else is doing.  She feels strong and empowered that she made a healthy choice that will eventually lead her to her goal of being fit.  It is her choice and her life.  She is in control.  She has the strength and the power to do this!  To paraphrase Elizabeth Gilbert… she has a backbone not a wishbone.

Don’t wear your wishbone where your backbone needs to be.  Be that strong woman.  You can do this healthy fit thing (one week at a time).
