Another Year Older

In March I turn another year older, which is a good thing when you consider the alternative, but it also hurts a little to have to say that steadily growing number outloud.  I keep reminding myself that it is just a number.  It doesn’t define who I am any more than the number on the … Continue reading Another Year Older

Operation Fit – Week #4: Core Challenge

CORE: central, innermost, or most essential part of anything At the core of our fitness journey is the essential fact that we are not in this alone.  If we were, it would be so easy to just quit and give up at the first little bump in the road.   Well bump or no, you can't quit because this road is full … Continue reading Operation Fit – Week #4: Core Challenge

40 Day Challenge

Forty days... the amount of time the first rain fell and flooded the earth, the amount of time Moses spent on the mountain with God, the amount of time Jesus fasted in the wilderness... forty days... Sweet Victory of Reaching the Goal

It all started as a kid on the monkey bars.  You know the bar -- the one just a little out of reach.  You do a slight little jump, grab hold with no problem (much like a skilled and graceful gymnast) and then just hang there because you're not strong enough to pull yourself up. … Continue reading Sweet Victory of Reaching the Goal

Sweat Is Fat Crying

“Sweat is fat crying” is a quote from Pinterest that got my attention today as I thought about my tough-as-nails workout this morning.  (Can I get an amen from my Fat Burn Friday Power Chisel class? – it was doosie this morning)   As I pondered on this quote, I decided that I like the thought … Continue reading Sweat Is Fat Crying

The Best is Yet to Come

Nineteen-eighty something:  I’m in my teens with bright hot pink lipstick, big hair and Sassoon jeans that I had to lay down to zip.  Luke and Laura dominated afternoon tv and no one I knew owned a computer or a cd player.  I used my jam box and an audio cassette tape to work out … Continue reading The Best is Yet to Come
